That was the highlight of the top hiking trail. There are so many birdhouses there, and also food in a box. You don't even have to sit on the bench for long before the birds come flying in to get food. The area is nicely designed; there are even cushions provided for the bench.

You almost need binoculars to see the Inselsberg, but the view from here is magnificent.

A double sided face. One of a beautiful woman, mask-like. On the other hand, the true figure, a stern, sorrowful face... The finger on the lips commanding silence... "Peace" in the "EU" is represented by the mask. An almost flawless, beautiful woman's face, behind which the true face is hidden. Peace is maintained by war, which is fought within and, above all, beyond the borders of Europe.

Between 1911 and 1968, the “Vogteier Bimmel” railway crossed the Hainich National Park. There was a train stop in Heyerode. You can still admire the wonderful, colorful old train station there today. There is now a country inn with overnight accommodation: https://www.landgasthof-hainich.de.
