The starting point of the cycle route along the Loire is apparently so beautiful that there are two of it. However, if you take a closer look at the location in the komoot system, the two points are a dozen kilometers apart. If you're interested, see also =>> https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/277956

If you are looking for a relaxing and picturesque place to enjoy the beauty of the canal and the river, you can visit the Aubois lock site on the Loire lateral canal. This site consists of a lock with a gate, a canal bridge, a fixed bridge over the lock and a lock keeper's house. You will be able to admire the engineering and architecture of these structures, which date from the 19th century and were part of the construction of the canal parallel to the Loire. You will also be able to discover the history and innovation of this site, which was used to test a water saving system during the operation of the lock in 1868, and which saw the construction of a metal swing bridge in 1893.

The famous "La Loire à Vélo" trail starts here, in La Guerche-Sur-l'Aubois, near Nevers. The start of this track is marked by a kilometer post on the ground. 900km long, relatively well marked and suitable for any type of bike, La Loire à Vélo will take you to Saint-Brevin-les-Pins in Loire-Atlantique.

We drove part of the Ragweg, but in the opposite direction, from Saumur to Nevers. In the opposite direction because you then have less headwind and more tailwind, because the main wind direction here is west, southwest! The bike path is well signposted, including the side roads, so that you don't actually need a map or GPS. And the paths are also great to drive on. In Germany that would be a 5 star bike path!
