Conservatoire d'espaces naturels HdF
June 18, 2026, Le Marais communal d’Eaucourt-sur-Somme

The Eaucourt-sur-Somme marsh is located in the downstream part of the middle Somme valley, on the left bank of the canal, within the largest complex of alkaline peat bogs in Northern France. With an area of nearly 40 hectares, the site is characterized by vast peat and paratourbe meadows on which several hut ponds are inserted, in the part owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral. The communal part corresponds to the sector of the rouissoirs (retting pits), where blue springs are present. The Conservatoire d’espaces naturels has been working since 2011 to preserve this site. The meadows grazed by cows notably host the Criquet palustre (marsh cricket) and the Orchis négligé (neglected orchid). Visitor trails allow you to walk along these meadows and observe the blue spring. https://www.cen-hautsdefrance.org/site/le-marais-communal-deaucourt-sur-somme/

Jessy's barge is a very friendly place where you can have a drink or eat a waffle with a cool owner. Located on the banks of the canal along the towpath.
