The Chartreuse de Montrieux is a monastery located on the foothills of the Sainte-Baume massif. It was established in 1137.

The Carthusian Order, known for its radical spirituality following the example of the hermit Saint-Bruno, settled here in 1137. This Carthusian monastery is therefore the 8th house of the order. Destroyed several times, the current buildings date from the 17th and 18th centuries. Abandoned during the Revolution, the monks returned again in 1843. Driven out once again in 1903 by the fanatical gentleness of the Republicans, by virtue of the famous law of 1901, the religious (14 fathers and 14 lay brothers) took refuge in Italy, at the charterhouse of Cervara. In 1936, the community of La Cervara merged with that of Montrieux, leaving the monastery of Cervara to return to Montrieux. In 2008, twelve monks of the order (seven fathers and five brothers) made this monastery still alive.
