Marcigny is a historic French small town in the historical region of Burgundy. It has just under 1,700 inhabitants and is picturesquely located in the southwest of the Saône-et-Loire department, in the vast river landscape of the Loire. The church of Saint-Maurice, whose origins date back to the 18th century, was the chapel of the castle, hence the name of the castle chapel. Inside the church, on the right-hand side, in a bay window, there is a wall fresco of Saint James with pilgrim's cloak and staff, which was discovered during restoration work in 1999.
