Gorbio seems to have been left out of time and the tourist circuit. Perched 360 metres above the Mediterranean, the medieval village winds through vaulted passages to open onto a square presided over by a 300-year-old elm tree. In June, the narrow streets are lit by hundreds of snail shells filled with olive oil, the famous Procession aux Limaces. It's worth the climb.

A beautifully landscaped park area that is particularly attractive during the Lemon Festival towards the end of February. However, it does get very crowded with visitors at that time, especially around the impressive large sculptures made of oranges and lemons.

Especially during Carnival time - around the time of the "Fete du Citron" - amazing sculptures made from citrus fruits are exhibited here.
