The castle of Dampierre-en-Burly dates from the 15th and 16th centuries, when it belonged to the Cugnac family. Decorated by the painter Michel Dorigny, it was destroyed during the French Revolution. Only the clock tower, which serves as the entrance, remains of the original building. The current castle was rebuilt in the 19th century by Amédée de Béhague, an agronomist who created an estate of 2,000 hectares. The castle is not open to the public, but you can admire its architecture and gardens from the outside. You can also discover the neighboring village of Dampierre-en-Burly, which has remains of fortifications from the Middle Ages.

Nice view of the castle of Dampierre-en-Burly from the bridge separating the Etang du Bourg and the Etang du Grand Moulin. It was built in the 17th century then completely renovated in the 19th and today offers us its magnificent ramparts to observe (unable to visit it as it is a private castle).

The Nebbiu-Conca d'Oru region is known for its well-signposted trails, many of which are designed as loops to bring you back to your starting point.
Hiking in Saint-Florent often combines natural beauty with historical discovery. Many coastal trails lead to or offer views of historic Genoese towers, such as the one at Punta Mortella. Yes, several trails offer access to some of Corsica's most beautiful and pristine beaches. Other coastal paths along the Sentier des Douaniers also lead to secluded coves perfect for a refreshing swim.
Saint-Florent is accessible for hiking year-round, but the spring (April-June) and autumn (September-October) months are generally considered ideal. During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild, and the landscapes are vibrant, with blooming flora in spring and comfortable temperatures in autumn. Summer can be very hot, especially on exposed coastal trails, so early morning or late afternoon hikes are recommended then.
While some trailheads might be accessible by local buses, many of the more remote and scenic hiking routes, especially those in the Agriates Desert or certain sections of the Sentier des Douaniers, are best reached by car. It's advisable to check local transport schedules and route access in advance, as options can be limited outside of peak tourist season.
