Built in the early Renaissance period between 1539 and 1543, the Old Town Hall is today the landmark of the city of Weiden. A town hall stood here as early as 1400, but burned down to its foundations in 1536. While the new town hall, subsequently constructed by master builder Hans Nopl, served the administration on the upper floors, the ground floor housed sixteen shops. Since the construction of the New Town Hall in 1978, a city council meeting has been held here only once a year. It is also used for weddings and special receptions. Shops still house the ground floor today. A remarkable carillon chimes daily at 11:35 a.m. and 4:35 p.m.

The Stork Fountain has graced Kurt-Schumacher-Allee since 1974. Previously, from 1908 to 1935, the fountain was located at the Upper Market in what is now the pedestrian zone. In 1908, Weiden's oldest fountain still in operation was commissioned. City architect Kühne designed the design, a Munich company created the model, and sculptor Ernst Nagel created the cast models. An Ulm artificial sandstone factory was responsible for the sculptures: dog heads, stone garlands, ornaments, and reliefs. The companies Otto Keller and Peter Weiß supplied the Flossenbürg granite stones. The bowl with the water-spouting stork, which gave the fountain its name, was cast by the Nuremberg bronzeware factory Ch. Lenz. Due to insufficient water supply for the stork, it was soon replaced by the stone ball that still stands today. In 1935, the fountain had to make way for the rulers of the time, who needed more space for their parades at the Upper Market.
