In 1993, Albig was named "Rheinhessen's Most Beautiful Wine Village." This award was presented annually by the Alzey-Worms district at the time. If you'd like to discover even more, including hiking trails, festivals, and wine taverns, you'll find it at www.Rheinhessen.de 😉

The village fountain in Langgasse is a historically significant landmark in the community, due to the former weeds at this location, the nearby "Obere Pforte" (Upper Gate), the former boundary of the village, and the former site of the "Germania" memorial to the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71. But this spot is of great interest for another reason. On the new village fountain, the viewer will find two images: the current Albig coat of arms, and on the front water trough, a court seal. Unfortunately, the court seal has since weathered, so only those in the know can recognize what is depicted here.

The new Albig church bells were cast in 1954. The old bells were confiscated and melted down during World War II. Only the very old bell, called "Osanna", remained. It dates from 1380 and is now 640 years old and still rings daily for secular purposes.
