... this section of the sunken road is officially called "BRETTWEG" (Board Path) - since the road was often impassable in the past, and to prevent the heavy iron horse-drawn carts from sinking into the mud, this sunken road was paved with wooden boards! Today, the sunken road is paved with concrete. 👍But it's still the "BRETTWEG" (Board Path) 🪵

It's a "connection from life to the afterlife." When I was young, this path was designed as a poplar avenue. Along this "final journey," the deceased citizens of Muggensturm were driven directly to the burial site on specially decorated horses and hearses, accompanied by the mourners. Morgues like today, with their refrigerated rooms, didn't exist back in the 1950s.
