Dent de Crolles

Highlight • Summit

At the top of the Dent de Crolles (2,062 meters), the view emerges over the entire Grésivaudan valley. Second highest summit of the Chartreuse massif after Chamechaude at 2082 meters, its ascent is however more technical.

Col du Coq

Highlight • Mountain Pass

- Don't be surprised: I created the highlight because the previous highlight was in the wrong place (not on the "real pass") -
The Col du Coq is the highest pass in the Chartreuse. From the north / west (St. Pierre) the road is in really bad condition (08/2020), there are some sections for which a gravel bike would be more suitable. Unfortunately, the worst part is also at the steepest (over 15%) point. The ascent from the north / west (I only drove this side) has two longer steep sections, but is otherwise easy to do. You shouldn't be surprised that shortly before the summit it goes downhill for a relatively long time, only to then climb again well. On the east side, you can either descend right into the valley (but be careful: very long, completely unlit tunnel on the descent !!) or to the left to the Petites Roches.

Favorite of the region, this summit at 1,830 meters offers a breathtaking view of the Marcieu valley and the Belledonne range, but also of Mont Blanc.

This lake is a treat and depending on the humidity and light you will experience different shades of turquoise blue. The ideal place to swim and cool off in summer.

The path to Lac de crop is somewhat steep at places, but it is well maintained and well marked. The view of the lake is truly rewarding. Highly recommended.

Magnificent lake! Accessible to all! As a bonus, you'll find ibexes and a few marmots if you're lucky. For the more courageous, you can climb to an altitude of 2,900 m by continuing on the path with a magnificent view if the sky is clear!

Nice little hike, it's steep but worth it.

A stunning summit with views of Mont Blanc. The two climbs from the Col des Ayes are relatively steep, but steel cables are installed at the more dangerous sections. The climb north via the Trou du Glaz is a bit longer and a bit easier. The climb east is a bit steeper and more exposed. The view is good, though.

Great hike! Make sure you have good shoes with crampons because some slopes are a bit slippery. Magnificent view at the top.
