If you are coming from the direction of the Col de Bonhomme or the Route de Cretes, this is the best alternative to the busy yellow road. Going the other way... phew 😁

Instead of driving down the Col de Bonhomme on the yellow road, there is an option to drive into the "forest" further up the Route de Cretes in the bend. You drive on tarred roads through the forest to the Col de Mandray. Simply great...

Peaceful climb with very beautiful views. Be careful, however, some motorists tend to drive very fast in this pass.

Good surface and little traffic! I really liked this tour: Saales, Hohneck 2019_07_12 Vosges Tour 2019 E03 https://www.komoot.de/tour/78472517

Nice pass between Fraize and La Croix au Mines. Rather steep from Fraize. Not the other way around. Overall, very little going on, the area seems very sparsely populated here.

Beautiful smaller pass up to almost 800m height. Here also memorial. The rise of Fraize is a bit steeper, the one of Ban de Laveline longer but more leisurely. After Mandray itself, the road is not recommended (definitely not downhill!)
