Tips from the Community

The Isère simply, without artifice, nature. When we are in Saint Bonnet de Chavagne we do this loop every day at 11 am, it's our aperitif. Sometimes we extend it at the start by going through Saint Antoine l'Abbaye. Sometimes we extend it on the way back by going south of the Château de l'Artaudière towards the walnut groves of Chatte (Saint Marcelin). Pure happiness, fit for the rest of the day! Wherever we go, the bikes are in the car, and we thus cycle loops of 20 to 60 km daily. And a book always accompanies us, what a joy to stop and read a little in front of a remarkable landscape. Long live bike loops! Daniel

Secondary road with very little traffic and mediocre asphalt. Partly it runs along the hill with magnificent views of the Vercors and the Royans, partly in narrow sunken lanes. Fast descents are less possible due to the narrow road width and a number of adjacent houses and farms.

Not to be confused with the other Col de la Madeleine in Savoie. This is a much smaller and gentler climb. The views at the top are nice nonetheless.

Saint-Michel-sur-Savasse is a small town typical of the region. Surrounded by ridges called “feytas”, the village is in the center of a small valley where the Savasse flows. You will find meadows and orchards in the surroundings. The town offers superb views of the Vercors, the Isère plain or the foothills of the Ardèche.
