Good footwear and good physical condition, something to drink and a small snack would be good.

I know this Via Verde well, varied terrain, interesting wildlife and birds. Generally good earthy surface, quite flat as it is an old mine Galway route, railway track was never laid! I live only a few km away, ride sections of it every week. Recommend a sortie!

This is part of the Vía Verde de Mazarrón. It was concreted in 2022 and should be open but the farmer has tried numerous times to close it. I have written twice to Murcia Tourism to complain about the closures and they do go out and tell him to open up. Last year he closed it with a sign stating that he was spraying the oranges, however this was not the case and was just a ploy to close the gates. If you see it closed, please write to the tourism office to complain, the farmer is extremely annoying. The second photo above shows the track around the orchard which is ok but should not be necessary.
