Yera ghost station

Highlight • Monument

The ghost station of Yera is abandoned and in ruins, it is a station that although the works were practically finished, never was inaugurated and was the last to be built of the Santander-Mediterranean railway project. The platforms were finished although the tracks were never laid.
Next to the station there is a small rectangular building that was the old warehouse. And all this set is located on a large concrete platform and a large wall lightened by
32 arches 50 meters high. All of this with spectacular views of the valleys of Pasiegos.

Yera Station is an old railway station located in the municipality of Vega de Pas, Cantabria. It was part of the Santander-Mediterranean railway project, which was never completed. The station is abandoned and is located near the northern mouth of the Engaña Tunnel. In 2022, the Government of Cantabria approved a rehabilitation project to convert the station into a hostel, exhibition hall and restaurant, with the aim of promoting sustainable tourism in the area. This project also includes the creation of a cycle and pedestrian path to the tunnel.

The date of its construction is unknown, some place it between the 8th and 9th centuries, but it is also believed to be from the 13th century.

In the Merindades region to the north of Burgos is the Cueva Ermita de San Bernabé, located at the main entrance of the karstic complex of the Ojo Guareña Natural Monument, a hermitage that was previously dedicated to San Tirso and later San Bernabé

Both the waterfall and the environment that surrounds it are simply wonderful. Easily accessible, this waterfall is a waterfall of about 70 meters with a natural pool at its feet. A true paradise that deserves to be visited at any time of the year, although it is recommended in spring-summer.
