Simple shelter that offers some protection in light rain. Otherwise, certainly a suitable shady spot in strong sunshine to admire the Bad Bodenteicher Heide.

Rather lonely and small, but definitely worth a detour if you are nearby.

Perfect surface, still fairly new. It's a great ride! There was zero traffic in the evening. A top road bike route.

It's a beautiful park with lots of information for all ages. To see the animals, you should attend feedings, as these shy creatures are otherwise in hiding.

In 1910, a power plant was commissioned next to the sawmill, the first in the Uelzen district after the town of Uelzen. It supplied Wieren with 220 V direct current until 1950, and the neighboring town of Drohe until 1929. Eel fishing was plentiful at the weir between the mill and sawmill. During favorable (thunderstormy) weather and high water levels, up to 50 kg of eel were caught here at night. (Text by Walter Schröder)
