Mountain biking around Parque Nacional de Monfragüe offers diverse and challenging terrain within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The region is characterized by "wrinkled" landscapes with long, narrow ridges of hard quartzite, through which the Tagus and Tiétar rivers have carved deep, canyon-like channels. This geological formation creates dramatic vertical cliffs and rock formations, alongside extensive Mediterranean forest featuring cork and holm oaks, and scrubland. These varied features provide a dynamic environment for mountain bikers.

The hiking trail from the parking lot at the foot of the Castillo is easy to walk and mostly goes up on the road. No particular difficulties await the hiker, but there are fantastic views over the Monfragüe Nature Park. Don't forget your binoculars so you can get a good look at the many vultures, eagles and black storks. The Castillo itself is rather uninteresting.
