The Zawadowskie Islands Nature Reserve is a faunal nature reserve, established in 1998, located in southern Warsaw (in the districts of Wilanów and Wawer), the Konstancin-Jeziorna commune and the city of Józefów. It covers an area of 530.28 ha and includes islands, shallows, sandbanks and the flowing waters of the Vistula. It borders the "Świderskie Islands" reserve in the south. The aim of the reserve is to protect the aquatic ecosystems of the Vistula and to create a place for rare species of birds and animals associated with the aquatic environment. The reserve has diverse vegetation, including riverine riparian forests and wickerworks, and the fauna includes, among others, gulls, terns, plovers, herons, ducks and beavers, otters and amphibians. Additionally, the reserve is an important feeding place for waders and other animals. There are numerous prohibitions in the reserve, such as a ban on hunting, capturing wild animals, destroying plants, changing water conditions, and a ban on entering the reserve areas except for designated roads. Exceptions include, among others, sustainable fishing, scientific research, and specific forest management in accordance with the conservation plan.
