A fine cafe stop with plenty of outside space for bikes and a good terrace. Good food too, from full breakfast to pastries and cakes.

A bit hidden within the courtyard of the boating lake. Large menu, very reasonably priced, friendly staff. Open daily 0800-1700.

I agree with others; too gnarly in places for a road bike, and at the weekend it is far too busy with other bikes, errant children and dogs to be really safe. The road along the south shore is great though and reasonably quiet.

Not really the place to be on a road bike. Gravel and dirt surfaces not suitable for road slicks! And too many dog walkers and other bikes. A bit too uneven and busy. Try to avoid. I bailed and continued on the road. The north side is a busy road, but the Eastern end of the water from Empingham along the south side (keep to the road) to Manton is a quiet country lane. Worth diverting to see Normanton Church.

Independent country pub, serving a good variety of food. Food served everyday. Nice selection of local ales and cider on draught too!
