April 13, 2026, View of the Sierra Nevada from the Ascent to Alto de Calar

In sunny weather in mid-April it is already pleasantly warm and the snow-covered backdrop of the Sierra Nevada is breathtaking

Nice moderate walk from Güejar Sierra and back. You probably would save about 15 min and 1km if you don't get lost couple of times as i did😅. Recommend to get there early before that jest. Part of the walk is shaded and part under open sun. Pay attention on the top of Certo de Castillejo and Pico de La Lastra.

In the Barranco de San Juan you can enjoy impressive views of the Mulhacén peak and the Alcazaba.

Nice round trip from the Los Lomas campsite. Unfortunately, the tour goes to the town of Embalse and from there back to the campsite on the main road, which is not nice to walk on as there is more traffic here.

The Estrella, Probadora and Justicia mines were the most important. These were small underground farms.
