The Dúrcal River, in the heart of the Lecrín Valley (Granada), is a spectacular natural area, ideal for hiking, photography, and water sports. It rises in the western part of the Sierra Nevada mountains and flows into the Guadalfeo River, near the Rules Dam. It is a short river, but highly attractive due to its waterfalls, pools, and gorges. Typical riparian forest vegetation includes willows, ash trees, poplars, and aspens.

Melegís belongs to the municipality of El Valle, located in the Lecrín Valley. The town is nestled between the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada and the nearby Béznar reservoir. A special highlight is the old wash fountain 🚵

Beautiful walk in a beautiful environment! The description says easy, but there are some pretty tough climbs.

I wouldn't drive here because it takes you across the bridge onto the relatively busy main road. It's much better to take the small road parallel to the bridge. The asphalt is a bit rough for a short stretch, but the view is much more impressive and there's no car traffic.

Good asphalt and almost no traffic, plus a breathtaking view. The ruin itself is very dilapidated.

While many outdoor areas in Spain are dog-friendly, specific regulations can vary. It's generally advisable to keep dogs on a leash, especially near wildlife or agricultural areas. Given the mixed terrain and potential for traffic on some sections, consider your dog's fitness and comfort on longer rides. Always ensure you carry enough water for both yourself and your pet.
