The La Palue is an idyllic, natural river in the Landes department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Known for its calm waters and dense forestation, it stretches through the heart of the Landes forest and flows into Lac de Léon. The small, winding river is characterized by its shallow depth, making it an ideal and safe excursion destination for families. With a Class 1 current, the water is often so shallow that you can stand in the riverbed in places. Along the banks, a protected, almost tropical fauna and flora stretches out, reminiscent of mangrove landscapes and providing a habitat for numerous animals. Due to its calm nature, the La Palue is a very popular area for canoe and kayak tours. Local providers, such as the Canoe-Kayak Club of Castets, offer guided tours and boat rentals to explore the pristine nature. The picturesque route leads downstream directly to the mouth of the Lake of Léon.

This is also a nice bike path off-road, even with a slight incline. Only occasionally do a few roots push up the asphalt.
