Unfortunately it's already very overgrown, but it's a very interesting insight into the past.

Some alpine hiking experience is required. While the trails are all manageable, they are a bit slippery in places due to loose scree. However, with hiking poles and proper hiking boots, the route is easily manageable. There are some sections through shady forest areas at the beginning, and further up, the trail opens up into the sun. Be sure to bring plenty of water. The summit offers fantastic panoramic views. A worthwhile hike for us. ...

I walked this route today It is a beautiful walk and the view of La Foradada is phenomenal. Up to this point it is relatively easy walking, after that a very tough descent begins with a lot of climbing over steep slopes and narrow paths If you have no (mountain) walking experience, are afraid of heights and/or are not 'trittsicher' I would not recommend this walk Good shoes are a must and walking sticks are recommended. Furthermore, I adjusted the route at the end; once on the dirt road (last part) I walked straight ahead At a certain point, in sight of the P, you can reach the other side via a path. It is very nice to walk, at the end

Komoot offers nearly 200 diverse running routes throughout the Montsià region. These range from easy coastal paths to challenging mountain trails, catering to all fitness levels.
Montsià offers a variety of terrains for runners. You'll find challenging limestone mountain trails in the Serra del Montsià, flat coastal paths along the Ebro Delta, and scenic routes through traditional olive groves in the Secans del Montsià Protected Natural Area.
Yes, Montsià has several easier routes, particularly in the Ebro Delta Natural Park, which offers flatter, scenic paths. For example, the Mouth of the Sénia River loop from Camping Estanyet is a moderate 9 km route with minimal elevation gain, ideal for a gentler jog.
Many routes provide stunning views. The Sierra de Montsià - Circular Tour via la Foradada ascends to the iconic Roca Foradada, offering breathtaking panoramas over Sant Carles de la Ràpita and the Bay of Els Alfacs. You can also find viewpoints like Mirador de l'Embut and La Foradada Arch — View of the Ebro Delta along various trails.
Absolutely. Many routes in Montsià are designed as loops, allowing you to start and finish at the same point. A challenging option is Los barrancos de la Galera - Circular route from Mas de Barberans, which explores the ravines of the Galera area.
The running routes in Montsià are highly rated by the komoot community, with an average score of 4.7 stars from over 20 reviews. Runners often praise the diverse landscapes, from challenging mountain ascents to flat coastal runs, and the well-maintained network of trails.
For families, the flatter routes within the Ebro Delta Natural Park are generally more suitable. These paths offer scenic views and are less strenuous than the mountain trails. Look for routes with minimal elevation gain for a comfortable family outing.
Many natural areas in Catalonia, including parts of Montsià, are dog-friendly, but it's always best to check specific regulations for each trail or protected area. Generally, dogs should be kept on a leash, especially in natural parks, to protect wildlife and ensure safety for all users.
Beyond the trails, you can explore several attractions. In Ulldecona, near the Secans del Montsià, you'll find the world's oldest olive tree, ancient 'Abrics de l'Ermita' cave paintings, and a medieval castle. The Ebro Delta also features highlights like the Flamingo Viewing Area and La Tancada Lagoon, perfect for birdwatching.
The Montsià region is enjoyable for running throughout much of the year. Spring and autumn offer pleasant temperatures, making them ideal for exploring both mountain and coastal routes. Summers can be hot, especially inland, so early morning or late evening runs are recommended. Winters are generally mild, allowing for comfortable jogging.
Yes, the Ebro Delta Natural Park, bordering the Serra del Montsià, provides expansive coastal routes. Trails like the Platja de Capri loop from la Ràpita offer flat, scenic runs along the coastline, perfect for those who prefer a gentler pace with sea views.
Parking availability varies by trailhead. Many popular starting points for trails in the Serra del Montsià and around towns like Sant Carles de la Ràpita or Amposta will have designated parking areas. For routes within the Ebro Delta Natural Park, look for visitor centers or specific access points that often provide parking facilities.
