January 12, 2024, Prentiss Covered Bridge

This cute bridge is the smallest covered bridge in New Hampshire. It was built in 1974 and carried road traffic until 1955. Now it can only be crossed by foot, but it makes for a great photo opportunity as it is right next to the road.

Sunapee Harbor is a beautiful spot on Lake Sunapee. It's a place to find peace and calm, surrounded by rolling hills with a wide view out across the water. If you have time to spare to explore the lake, you can take a boat tour with Sunapee Cruises.

January 12, 2024, Pollard Mill Falls

If you love swimming, it is worth making a detour to Pollard Mill Falls. The waterfall tumbles down into a pool, perfect for a dip. Even if you don't like getting wet, the beautiful surroundings are more than enough to make it thoroughly recommended. There are picnic tables and even a pantry where you can buy snacks. The falls are on private property, but the landowner maintains the site and keeps it open to the public, so please respect the area to keep it open for everyone to enjoy for years to come.

Washington is a lovely place to ride through, with a fair share of historic buildings to marvel at, such as the Town Hall and the first Seventh Day Adventist Church. It lays claim to be the first settlement named after the President, George Washington. There is a General Store in the town if you need any supplies.

Millen Lake is set in a beautiful location where you're likely to spot people fishing or out on the water on boats. There is a beach at its northernmost tip and as it's just a short ride away from Washington, it makes a great destination for cycling with children.

The road cuts through the Saint-Gaudens Historical National Park. It was once the home of the celebrated sculptor, Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The grounds are peppered with casts of his most famous works. If you have time during your ride to look around, it is well worth it. Take the Saint-Gaudens Road to the northwest. If you're just riding through, you pass Blow-Me-Down Pond, a beautiful wetland right next to the road.

The Cornish-Windsor Bridge was built in 1866 and is the longest wooden covered bridge in the country. It's an iconic way to cross the Connecticut River and travel between New Hampshire and Vermont. Despite being nearly 160 years old, it still carries traffic every day. There is a pull-out here, where you can stop and take photos.
