I rode through Cedartown on the Silver Comet Trail, and it's one of the most memorable sections of the route. This is where the trail really starts to feel like a long-distance adventure, with a mix of small-town charm and beautiful countryside. Cedartown is a great place to take a break, grab food, refill supplies, and chat with other cyclists before continuing west toward the Alabama state line. For anyone riding the full Silver Comet, Cedartown is a welcome stop and an important milestone along the journey.

I rode the Chief Ladiga Trail as part of a longer trip connecting to the Silver Comet Trail, and it's a fantastic ride. The trail is smooth (Little bumpy at places compare to Silver Comet), well maintained, and takes you through small towns, forests, and beautiful rural scenery across eastern Alabama. One thing I really enjoyed was the peaceful atmosphere and how easy it is to put in long miles without dealing with traffic. If you're looking for a relaxing rail-trail ride with plenty of scenery and a true long-distance cycling experience, the Chief Ladiga Trail is definitely worth visiting.

The Heflin Spur of the Pinhoti Trail leads to the town of Heflin. The spur trail spans 3.5 miles in one direction. Heflin is a small town, settled back in 1882, and home to about 4,000 people today.

Here, the Pinhoti trail crosses Talladega Scenic Drive, only half a mile from Cheaha State Park, with fantastic views, restrooms, cabins, and more.

This is the eastern terminus of the Chief Ladiga Trail and the western terminus of the Silver Comet Trail. It is also the Alabama and Georgia border. There is a small, covered picnic area, so it is a good spot to take a break, before getting back on the trail!

Cedartown is a quant trail town that the Silver Comet Trail runs through. There are several restaurants and hotels in the town. If you are looking for a cultural activity, you can visit the Cedartown Welcome Center, which has an exhibit about one of Cedartown's famous residents, Sterling Holloway, the voice of Winnie the Pooh.

Piedmont is a lovely, small city in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. It has several restaurants, cafés, and accommodation options, so it is a great place to stop along the Chief Ladiga Trail.
