Visitor Center with some facilities, a few wooded walking trails (nothing too special but good for getting in some steps in the shade - but expect some Mosquitoes during the warm season) and a ferry to Bear Island.

Lejeune Memorial Gardens is a military park constructed to honor the men and women who served in the US military. The park is home to the Beirut Memorial, the Onslow Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Montford Point Marine Memorial, and the 9/11 Memorial Beam from the World Trade Center.

Stones Creek Game Land covers roughly 14,000 acres, with a mix of longleaf pine savannas, bottomland forests, and open fields. While it doesn’t have traditional hiking trails, a network of unpaved roads and fire breaks offers informal routes for exploring, especially around its seven small lakes. Segment 15 of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail passes through here, perfect for a chance to experience the Onslow Bight’s diverse habitats, including Venus flytraps, waterfowl impoundments, and actively restored pine ecosystems.

Short ride to wake you up in the morning

Stones Creek Game Land is home to sandy trails, wetland ecosystems, and a bunch of different plant and animal species native to the area. The property features picturesque lakes and ponds, but they don't draw the crowds that they should. Some flooding usually occurs during rainy periods, so you can plan for mud if running in the spring or summer.

Hammocks Beach State Park is over 1,500 acres and includes three smaller islands -- Dudley, Huggins, and Jones. There is a visitor center, picnic area and many beaches to choose from.

North Topsail Beach is a beautiful beach along the Atlantic Coast. It is a great place to cycle by and enjoy the wonderful sea views.
