Matthew
January 18, 2025, Elmore Pedestrian Bridge

The Elmore Pedestrian Bridge is the most popular way of crossing Tempe Town Lake via foot. This is located at the western end of the lake next to the dam and isn't near any roads, which is a nice change of pace from a lot of the other pedestrian bridges in the area.

Very close to the Tempe Tourism Office, you'll find these large letters which, as is common in other places, besides being a beautiful public artwork, are a popular photo spot.

This path across Tempe Town Lake follows North Mill Avenue over the bridge, but it is well separated from the traffic and offers great views of the lake. There are paved biking/running paths on both the north and south sides of the lake.

Evelyn Hallman Park is a pretty big urban park, being 40 acres in size. The trails that go through here are multi-use to bikers and walkers. There are a lot of amenities here, like urban fishing, public grills, lakes, picnic tables, parks, public art, shaded areas, and restrooms.

If you run across the pedestrian bridge (or just start your run on the north side of the lake), you'll get to run through North Linear Park, past the lake's main marina, and past the "boat beach." The paths on this side of the lake are still all paved and easy to follow; a lot of road races and triathlons actually take place on this side of the lake.
