As part of the event „Kreativ-Sägen am Rhein“ (Creative Sawing on the Rhine), which took place from July 31st to August 2nd, 2015 in Germersheim, five of Germany's most important wood artists transformed the towpath into a unique sculpture trail. The artists created imposing sculptures from oak wood, all of which relate to the Rhine. What's special about the wooden figures is the technique used to create them: all artists worked with chainsaws to carve the sometimes delicate motifs out of oak trunks up to four meters high.
