July 29, 2025, Old Mission San Jose

Nestled in Fremont just north of San Jose, Old Mission San JosΓ©, originally built by the Spanish in 1797, was painstakingly restored after decades of neglect. Visitors can step into history as they tour the original doors of the 1809 adobe church. Guided and self‑guided tours, the former being led by knowledgeable docents, bring the Rancho to life.

Nice view from the top of Red Hill. You are treated with a view back onto Freemont and onto the San Francisco Bay.

December 8, 2023, Niles Canyon Road

Very dangerous road for bicyclists. Partially lacking even a painted bicycle gutter which forces you into the same lane as ~50mph traffic. Experienced multiple "punishment passes" and was really glad when I left. Don't want to exist there ever again.

December 6, 2023, Coyote Creek Trail

The Coyote Creek Trail is one of the longest trail systems in the bay area, spanning from the Bay to the City's southern boundary. Currently, access to the northern segment of the trail is available from Highway 237 Bikeway to Montague Expressway. A short downtown stretch passes through Selma Olinder Park. Heading south, the trail starts at Tully Road, and reaches Morgan Hill. Along its 18.7-mile total distance (not continuously connected), the Coyote Creek Trail has scenic views of the waterway, urban landscapes, and rural areas.

The Ohlone Indian Cemetery, located in Fremont, is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This land, given back to the Ohlone Indians in the 1960s by the Bishop of Oakland, is where the cemetery is now. Many Ohlone tribe members, who did not join the mission and remained outside, suffered from European diseases like chickenpox. The area is fenced off from public access. The cemetery holds historical significance as it reflects the Native American ownership of the land before the establishment of the Spanish mission in the Fremont area.
