Tips from the Community

June 21, 2024, Newport Drive

Newport Drive is a nice quiet road with a bike lane, a nice change from the otherwise often shoulderless roads in this area. It passes by Discovery Bay, which is a charming, gated community that also has a public area. If you need a break, it's a good place to stop before heading back onto the highway.

Sadly the excellent paved car-free bike trail is interrupted here by a freeway for which they didn't build a bike bridge or underpass. Hope more people lobby to correct this to save lives by avoiding the busy road, and make biking more attractive.
