In honor of Ernst Thälmann, the larger-than-life Ernst Thälmann Monument (Stralsund) was erected according to a design by Leipzig sculptor Walter Arnold with numerous donations from the Stralsund population and the city's businesses on the then Ernst Thälmann Quay. After the foundation stone was laid on April 16, 1961, it was inaugurated in 1962 in the presence of Thälmann's daughter Irma Thälmann. wikipedia

The section from the Prohner Stausee to the road to Klausdorf has now been given a smooth asphalt surface. Rides great, nice and wide. Not quite as romantic anymore 😘

The house, now located at Fährstraße 17, was built in connection with the construction of the ferry gate. A shared wall with the city wall and the remains of a stove within it are strong indicators. The harbor tavern is therefore likely similar to the old city gate (1278). The first documented mention of the establishment dates back to 1332, in the second Stralsund city register. This makes it the oldest harbor tavern in Europe. Various details of its centuries-old history have been preserved.
