There is a parking lot and restroom here at the trailhead, which provides access to a large network of paved and packed dirt trails along the beautiful Rio Hondo. The trailhead closes at sunset.

This beautiful marina was built in 1983 as the sailing facility for the 1984 summer Olympics. The views out over the harbour are great, especially if you like boats. There is also a shoreline beach bike path here but beware as it gets somewhat busy.

Bosque del Rio Hondo, which is Spanish for โ€œForest of the Deep River, is a small quaint green area just off from Whittier Arrows lakes & Recreation Area. It is also abundant with wildlife and used by the public for picnics, biking and hiking because it provides access to the Rio Hondo and San Gabriel River bicycle paths.

This marina was built in 1983 as the sailing facility for the 1984 summer Olympics, which were held in nearby Los Angeles. The marina itself isn't the best place for running, but the bike path running past it makes for a great job.
