After extensive renovations a few years ago, the water in this lake is particularly clear. At that time, a sheet pile wall was temporarily used to separate the Kleiner Müggelsee from the Spree, and a 4-meter-thick layer of mud was dredged from the bottom. The R1 runs past Neu Helgoland (a high dune on the southern shore). The high shore with its white beach may have inspired the lake's namesake. Winter swimmers and early risers often have this usually busy, idyllic bathing spot to themselves. Nearby is the famous "Neu Helgoland" restaurant. The restaurant is highly recommended. There are moorings for pleasure boats and a jetty for the White Fleet and the ferry to Rahnsdorf. Closer to the aforementioned bathing spot, there is also a smaller Italian restaurant.

All the lakes are very beautiful. From Seedinsee to Dämererritzsee, then Flakesee, through the lock, and then to the crystal-clear Kslksee.

A beautiful forest path that's ideal for hiking, running, and mountain biking. However, when doing the latter, be careful of the roots that grow quite prominently in places.
