May 6, 2026, Schlaube Valley Forest and Streams

Technically a bit demanding. When wet, be careful with roots and leaves. A wonderful MTB route. We didn't meet a single hiker on the entire trail on a Tuesday in May (after morning rain) in the afternoon. Even though cycling on forest paths - also in nature reserves - is permitted in Brandenburg, in my opinion, you should not plan this tour on Sundays or public holidays or during vacations. So that it remains permitted, if it continues to be possible without competition on less frequented days.

I would rate the trail S1, with light technical difficulties with some roots.

After a hike around Lake Wirchensee or as a break on a bike ride through the Schlaubetal valley, a visit to the Waldseehotel Wirchensee is worthwhile. The terrace offers a magnificent view of the lake.

Large and small boulders from the fields served as building material for many village buildings in the past. They were brought and moved by the Ice Age, which also shaped the diverse landscape of the Schlaubetal Nature Park.

The pretty village church was rebuilt as a half-timbered church around 1730 and expanded with a porch in 1780. Predecessors from much earlier times are known. The building was gradually renovated starting in the 1990s.
