June 18, 2025, Vista View Park

Believe it or not Vista View Park, just to your north, used to be a landfill. Now the roughly 270-acre open space is a lovely green interlude, with the spacious views its name implies.

The New River Greenway stretches about 11 miles from Markham Park to S. University Dr./SR 817. There are a few intersections to cross, so be careful there; otherwise, it's an easy, flat-paved trail for all to enjoy.

December 5, 2023, State Road 84

State Road 84 is a smooth, flat, and dead straight strip of road that would be great for some speed work, steady intervals, or a TT bike. There is a nice bike lane and not too many traffic lights to kill your average speed.

Regional Park Drive is a great, smooth stretch of road to escape some traffic. The park has some drinking fountains along the way and you can spot some gators in the ponds sprinkled throughout the park.

The Hard Rock Cafe Hotel Florida is a real eye-catcher - inside and out! From the outside, the building has the shape of a Gipson electric guitar, which is spectacularly illuminated at night. A walk through the entrance hall of the hotel, as well as the associated casino and the Hard Rock Café Restaurant is worthwhile because of the spectacular interior design and of course because of the exhibits by international artists from the music industry in the form of instruments or clothing, which are usual for Hard Rock Cafés. If you're ever in Hollywood, Florida, it's a must-see.
