The so-called Villa Oppenheim, or Haus Fühlingen, was a stately manor house on the edge of the Fühlingen Heath, built in the late 19th century by a banker from the von Oppenheim family. The property originally belonged to a stud farm and a horse racing track. In 1907, horse breeding and the track were abandoned, and the gradual decay of the complex soon began. Later, the building became vacant and continued to deteriorate. The villa is considered a lost place and is surrounded by many ghost stories and tales of hauntings.
