Very beautiful half-timbered houses at the Kornmarkt in the center of the city of Göttingen.

Huge and massive, built of stone, the tower is located very close to Göttingen. Depending on the route, reaching it can be strenuous. It's open until 6 pm on weekends and public holidays. It also looks beautiful at night when it's illuminated.

Not much remains of it. These are ruins, some of which have been renovated. The lookout tower is closed, and there's no viewing platform or anything like that. Nevertheless, it's a good place to take a break (there are benches and a table) and enjoy the old ruins. An information panel is also available if you'd like to read a bit about the site.

Originally a polygonal tower on the Göttingen Wall, it served as a cannon emplacement. The tower at the confluence of the Leine Canal was used as a garden house from the first half of the 19th century onwards. It belonged to Johann Voß, a gardener in the "Oeconomic Garden" located between Turmstrasse and Hospitalstrasse. He rented the rooms to students as apartments, as was common practice for other garden houses outside the city gates. From spring to autumn 1833, Otto Graf von Bismarck (1815-1898) was its tenant. It is a legend that later emerged that he chose the quarters because he had been expelled from the city. The tower now houses a small exhibition on the life of Otto von Bismarck. The building also houses the History Workshop (Geschichtswerkstatt e.V.) and two apartments rented to students on a scholarship basis. https://museen.de/bismarck-haeuschen-goettingen.html

It's always nice to take a walk around the city on the wall.

When walking around the wall, you come across it. It stands there inconspicuously

The Rieswarte is a fortification built in the 15th century. It also served as an observation and early warning tower.

One of the most beautiful parks in Göttingen. Quiet, lots of nature and animals, and the gravestones and figures on some of them are absolutely worth seeing. Cycling isn't actually allowed here, but lots of people do it and as long as you don't disturb the walkers, it seems OK to me, because hardly anyone is out and about here.
