Komoot comment suggestion "Gasthaus Laubacher Wald (former train station!) – The final destination for longing... for food! 🚂🍽️" What a discovery! Here, where the locomotives once roared, cyclists can now take a breather and refuel. This is the Gasthaus Laubacher Wald, and yes, it's an old train station. The tracks are gone, but the charm remains – and the food is definitely not your average train station! You're truly sitting in the heart of the Vogelsberg Mountains, the air is fantastic, and after a few kilometers on the saddle, the Hessian specialties taste twice as good. My personal stop tip: Be sure to check out the beer garden when the sun is shining. Or take a look around inside to see if you can spot the ghost of an old conductor somewhere – I only saw wild boar, deer, and fox (which are probably the new regulars). Conclusion: A wonderful place for a break! Instead of changing trains, you can simply sit down, enjoy the ride, and then continue cycling, refreshed.

Definitely worth seeing! However, the surrounding area (“Green Sea” and existing buildings) is in disrepair and the paths require good surefootedness and skill when climbing over the fallen trees.

The former count's forester's lodge, also known as the "hunter's house", was an inn and a popular excursion destination for decades (source: Wikipedia). However, the listed building and its surroundings are currently, after apparently being vacant for a long time, increasingly turning into a lost place! https://denkxweb.denkmalpflege-hessen.de/48122/

The "Himmelsleiter" observation tower is 35 meters high. The tower structure (made of aluminum) has four observation platforms of different heights. From the top platform, you have a fantastic view of Wetterau and Taunus, as well as over the Gießener Basin to the Dünsberg.

Today only ruins of the masonry remain of the listed medieval church of St. Valentin - a Gothic parish church built around 1260. The church is the last indication of the Ruthardshausen desert. Source: Wikipedia https://www.360cities.net/de/image/laubach-kirchenruine-ruthardshausen
