You can enjoy and undertake a beautiful little hike here. The windmill is worth visiting, it is 24 m high in total. In 1911, an engine was installed, and decommissioning took place in 1961. In 1984, the Borsteler Mühle „Aurora“ was restored with funds from the district of Stade after its acquisition and has been made available for visits ever since. Unfortunately, it has been closed again for several years, but is currently undergoing restoration. Directly behind the windmill, there is free parking. A beautiful sight is the old village church, the Historic Harbor, as well as the great old half-timbered houses of Borstel.

The place owes its name to an old legend: at the ford where the Elbchaussee now crosses the Flottbek, carts repeatedly met with disaster due to wheel breakage. It was assumed that the devil was involved there. Thereupon, a carpenter was commissioned to build a bridge over the stream. He enlisted the devil's help for the construction of the bridge and promised him the soul of the first living being that would cross the bridge in return. After the pastor from Nienstedten had blessed the bridge on the day of its inauguration and wanted to step onto it, a "hare" was startled by the crowd and was the first living creature to run across the bridge. So much for the legend, which exists in a similar form for other bridges as well. The somewhat more sober version reads as follows: in Danish times, there were two bridges here, one over the Flottbek and another further west. From the dövelten, i.e., the double bridge, came the Düvelsbrück. A great cycling and hiking route runs along here 💙.
