Yvonne Boelman
July 27, 2025, Old White Beare Pub

Beautiful historic pub from the 17th century. Pub rebuilt after a fire using timber from the ship White Bear, which also participated in the Armada of 1588.

Nice and relatively flat linear tarmac route over 14 miles, newly tarmac'd over most of the way.

Norwood Green is a tranquil village between Halifax and Bradford in Calderdale. There are some lovely walks in the woodland immediately to the east of the village, while the Calderdale Way long-distance hike also passes through. If you're feeling peckish, both the Old White Beare and the Pear Tree serve great food.

February 16, 2021, Spen Valley Greenway

The Spen Valley cycleway leads through green rolling countryside, revealing far-reaching views over surrounding moorland. The route follows a disused railway line, relics of which you can still see today as you ride under former railway bridges.
