The Elbbrücke Bad Schandau, a central structure of the B172 built in 1977, was closed in November 2024 due to safety deficiencies. After a successful load test, it has been open to traffic up to 7.5 tons again since April 2025. Despite the reopening, a replacement new build is planned in the long term, while a temporary bridge is intended to provide relief.

Isn't 15% on average a bit excessive? Yes, it's a bit bumpy, but the climb is generally manageable. Just keep pedaling, and sooner or later you'll reach the top. Recently (June 2025), the road was closed due to construction.
