Briga was a Gallo-Roman town which prefigured the city of Eu. The site corresponds to a secondary city of the Early Roman Empire whose surface area is currently estimated at more than 65 ha. The remains of the ancient city, hidden under the forest for more than a millennium, were only rediscovered at the end of the 18th century, when it was decided to extend the road from Eu into the forest.
