History
It is no longer possible to precisely determine when the first church was built on the rock above the Lahn. Archbishop Hetti von Trier (814-847) is said to have consecrated a St. George's Church in "Lympurgensis". However, this construction is no longer verifiable.
The first verifiable church on the Limburg rock was built by the Count of Niederlahngau Konrad Kurzbold.
