Lake Altaussee

Highlight • Lake

Embedded in the picturesque mountain landscape is the crystal-clear Lake Altauseer, on the banks of which the town of the same name is located. Because the water has a slightly dark blue color, the lake is also called the "dark blue inkwell" - it is not only for this reason that it is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the Salzkammergut. In the lake you can refresh yourself and in the local gastronomy there is also a refreshment waiting for you.

Almsee East Shore Trail

Highlight • Trail

Almost two and a half kilometers wide, 700 meters long and hardly to be surpassed in idyll. The panorama alone takes your breath away. The Almsee - about eleven kilometers from Grünau im Almtal - is always worth a visit.

West shore of the Grundlsee

Highlight • Lake

The Grundlsee is the largest lake in Styria. From the western part of the lake you have a beautiful view of the lake and the panorama all around. At the Grundlsee you can go on a super nice bike tour that you will not forget for a long time - highly recommended! Here, in Mosern, there is a nice swimming area.

At this place there is a guest garden with drinks and a few dishes (pizza, gratinated black bread) for thirst and small appetites in between.

In my opinion, you should start the tour from the Seehotel and start to the left of the lake, then you have the great panorama in front of you on the way back and no cars.

The Ostuferweg am Almsee is highly recommended. Beautiful views of the lake from a trail only. There are a few benches on the shore for a break to enjoy the view. On the other side of the lake you walk along the road.

Very clocky hut. Very nice host. There are no showers but the washroom is relatively spacious. The drying room is not heated. Definitely a worthwhile destination for a hike in a picturesque setting. There is a lake below the hut
