The Timber Trail is a 690-mile mountain bike route that traverses the diverse landscapes of Oregon from the California border to the Columbia River Gorge. This section leads along the Fremont National Recreation Trail.

Hiking eastbound along the Oregon Desert Trail, the Chevaucan River is the first river you will encounter. It flows through Lake County in southern Oregon, originating from the Warner Mountains and feeding into the Chewaucan Marsh. South of the small town of Paisley, there are just a few places to pitch a tent along the River Road. There is a big open space just a few yards north of here, but it is likely that this is occupied by campers or RVs. At the end of the former road however, there is room for some small tents with access to the Chevaucan River.
