The Historic Metzler Homestead, dating back to 1786, is a stone house turned quaint bed and breakfast located 11 miles from Lancaster and 1.7 miles off the Conestoga Trail System. Each room is bookable 10 days in advance and has antique furnishings, free WiFi, and a private dining area equipped with a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffeemaker. Clean up and unwind in the reading and meditation room, or enjoy the comfort of their suite with a complimentary continental breakfast. Prepared by an Amish Mennonite cook, the morning spread includes homemade quiche or casserole made with free-range, organic eggs, fresh pastries, yogurt, fruit, and other handmade delights. The B&B is open seasonally from April through November.

December 7, 2023, Highlands Park

Highlands Park is a really popular spot for hiking and jogging without having to leave the city. To get to the grassy and dirt trails, you have to walk along a paved path for a little bit, but there are a number of unpaved trails you can branch out on. The trails are lined with plants and trees, and the deer in the area are so used to humans that they don't usually run away.

This trail is part of the Reading metropolitan area's extensive trail system. For most of its length, the trail parallels the creek for which it is named, and much of the environment is wooded. The multi-use path is a mix of gravel and paved surfaces.

Wyomissing Creek Trail is a great paved, multiuse trail. It runs alongside the Wyomissing Creek and goes the length of the Wyomissing Parklands. It can be used as a connector trail to the Schuylkill River Trail that travels from Reading to Pottstown.

Nice view of the Tulpehocken Creek. You can cross the creek using a pedestrian bridge, so you can stop to enjoy the view and listen to the moving water without worry about car traffic.
