Altdorf Synagogue The synagogue in Altdorf, a district of the town of Ettenheim in the Ortenau district of Baden-Württemberg, was built in 1867/68 at Eugen-Lacroix-Straße 2 (formerly Wallburger Straße). During the November Pogrom of 1938, SA men arrived in Altdorf at noon on November 10th after demolishing the synagogue in Ettenheim. They destroyed the synagogue's interior furnishings, knocking the stone tablets of the commandments from the gable and thereby destroying them. Since 1998/99, the former synagogue has been used as the Altdorf Art Gallery. In 2018, a Friends of the Former Synagogue, now the Altdorf Art Gallery, was founded with the goal of preserving the listed building.
