In Salzhausen, there's Café &köstlich, a lovely garden café at Winsener Str. 8, with delicious snacks and cakes, all lovingly decorated. Highly recommended.

High and good views – you can see clearly in every direction, and there are signs and information tables showing exactly what's in each direction. I had to push my bike a bit to get to the tower, but there are also paths where you can ride (although not as easy).

Update April 2024: The gravel path parallel to the road has been replaced with a paved path—at least it's natural (see photo). This certainly makes it easier for tourists and e-bikers to navigate, but it's still a shame. Regardless, the elevation gain toward Egestorf remains.
