The two Esthal residents Helmut Weitzel and Albert Kuhn from the Pfälzerwald-Verein Esthal have cleaned and restored the old Finter – Breitenbach – spring in Rumpelsloch, thus making it a pretty little gem. Above the outlet, they have erected a name stone. The new bench next to the spring will give the hiker the opportunity to rest again before the steep ascent towards Schwarzsohl.

Goldklause, Mühlbrunner Klause The function of the Goldwoog in the timber rafting system was that of a collection pond with a diversion channel. A key feature of the collection pond was the impoundment of the largest possible amounts of water. The collection pond had the function of storing and releasing water during timber rafting events. The outlet structure had to be dimensioned accordingly. It should be able to release large amounts of impounded water, without having to channel logs through it. The entire timber load was rafted past the pond via the diversion channel.

The Schelmenteichbrunnen was used as a wash fountain and for drinking water supply. The water is distributed via a semicircular stone trough. The facility is fed by a spring located about 50 meters up the path on the other side. The Schelmenteichbrunnen got its name from a pond that was located below the current fountain facility in earlier times. In 2020, the name of the fountain was erected by the Esthal "fountain restorers" Helmut Weitzel, Albert Kuhn and Walter Wolf.

The Heidenbrunnen is a contained spring with a trough and inscription. The well served as a watering place for livestock. Northwest above on the height is a junction of two old high roads. The users of these roads supplied themselves and their livestock with water at this well. The name is probably due to the fact that the people associated the well with these former users, the unknown and legendary prehistoric inhabitants of the land, the so-called heathens. At the top of the path is Ritterstein number 142 "Heidenbrunnen 100 Schr.".

Wonderful rest area, plenty of seating, a nicely decorated shelter including a well-stocked liquor cabinet and a trash can (you could also dispose of empty bottles here 👆). We spent a lovely break there.
