The Veste Oberhaus is really a top excursion destination. You can climb the observation tower and enjoy the 360 degree panorama, and of course you also have a great view of Passau and the old town from the walls of the fortress. Attention ⚠️: Unfortunately, the ramparts and the Ludwigsteig trail are currently closed due to storm damage. The entire area is cordoned off, and the lower section of the Ludwigsteig is completely destroyed by a landslide. A detour is necessary to reach the castle from the rear. Signposts are in place. We were there again on June 24th. Unfortunately, there has been no change to the construction situation. Everything is still closed 😕
